One of the big questions on my heart is this: how do we as change-agents navigate complexity, chaos and change? Because it’s all around us, and as much as we might know deep down that “we were made for such a time as this”, we still experience tumult when the old starts to crumble before the new emerges.

So, I’m gonna switch stuff up this week and share a post my friend Christina Morassi posted online this past Friday. She’s been in a deep exploration about what she calls, “Death Power”… The power that comes from deeply engaging in the natural cycles of death and rebirth. I hope it serves you in navigating a world where the old is crumbling, often before we see signs of the new emerging.

“It’s Friday. Can you believe how much has happened and changed in the past FIVE DAYS? Yowza! 

Biden stepping down? Kamala’s rapid rise and fundraising success? Who saw that coming?!

Regardless of your political stance, you have to admit it’s an incredible example of how big change is always possible. And it can happen in the blink of an eye. 

It got me thinking… These monumental shifts remind us how fast things can turn around when we align ourselves with the natural cycles of life and death. 

Joe Biden’s decision to step down was an ego death of the highest order; quite the colossal “little d” death. Imagine shedding an identity held for 50 years! Even if many were calling upon him to do so… Surely, you know plenty of people who would have clung tightly regardless. 

And then notice how much Biden’s surrender to this death cycle opened up a portal of brilliant aliveness! In just 24 hours, $81 million dollars were raised for his successor, rejuvenating a political party in ways unimaginable just days before. 

This, my friends, is what I call Death Power. It’s not merely an end; it’s a force of nature propelling us toward greatness. When we let go of what no longer serves us and open up to new possibilities, pure magic awaits. 

Yet, as a culture, we often resist this phenomenon. It scares us because we don’t like change and want nothing to do with embracing the unknown. 

But you can think of it like a snake shedding its skin. It might be tender and sting a bit, but underneath lies something amazing and new, ready to emerge. 

So, let’s take a page from this week’s events:

Where do you need to step down from roles that no longer fit?

Where can you allow parts of your ego to die?

What new aliveness could be waiting for you on the other side? 

Who knows? Perhaps a monumental change beyond your wildest dreams might be waiting for YOU in the blink of an eye too. And I bet, it will all be powered by Death Power.” 

I know many people are asking deep questions about the world and their contribution to it.

My hope is that Death Power can help you find your way forward, powerfully and purposefully.
