Creating portals into your world

I’ve been working on the Pre-Sold Prospect training I’m delivering later today…

And as I was sharing what I’m teaching with a mentor, they said, “You know Jeffrey, what you’re really teaching is how to lift a veil so people can see into a new future they didn’t know was possible for them. The pre-sales process you’re teaching is helping people create portals to new worlds.”

Immediately, I was like, “YES! That’s it! You’ve got it!”

Here’s what I’m loving about this…

If your work is an answer to a calling, at its core it holds a signature frequency of consciousness that represents a whole new world for the people you’re here to serve. 

And it’s amazing once people get into this world, right? Lives change, businesses grow, they wake up to their potential and step forward in the world in new ways.

The challenge is that most of the time, people can’t recognize the new world from where they’re at. It’s hiding in plain sight for them (think platform 9 ¾). 

Instead, what they’re aware of most of the time is their surface-level reality, including whatever they’re struggling with.

Sure, in their quiet moments, they might recognize that there’s something deeper going on (but they don’t know what), with a sense that their lives could be really different somehow (but they don’t know how). Even the things they’d hope for are limited by the thinking and consciousness of their current state. They can try to dream and say, “I’d like to have more of this or less of that,” but it often falls flat because it’s not a vision that resonates in their bones.

The reason we need to create portals into our work for people is this: When someone has a sense of something—a feeling about it that’s not mental—it can be hard for many folks to put their finger on what it is so they can understand it and invest in it.

The exception to this seems to be when someone is really ready to pop—they’re ready for change now—and your work and wisdom are a direct match to their yearning. In that state, you give off a particular “purpose scent” that these people’s energetic olfactory glands somehow pick up.

(What’s interesting about scent is that it’s the only sense out of our five senses that we process in the middle, mammalian brain, which is precognitive and kicks in before we even recognize that anything’s happening.)

Some of them trust that scent-sense enough to lean in, get curious, and buy. 

But when you’re relying on this mechanism to connect and sell to the right people, you end up serving a fraction of the people you could.

So everything I’ve been working on is how we use mundane marketing and messaging tools (emails, webinars, sales pages, etc.) as mechanisms to lift this veil and activate this portal for the right people. Because that’s when they move from this vague sense that maybe you’ve got something to going, “Holy crap, I see a new world is available to me.”

It’s where they move from the pre-cognitive sensation that there’s something interesting about you to the cognitive understanding of what you have to offer them that’s relevant to their immediate needs and resonates with a deeper place in their soul.

That’s when the veil has been lifted. And to me, that’s the work. That’s the opportunity. That’s the game: to be veil lifters and portal openers for our people.

When we know how to use mundane marketing tools (emails, webinars, funnels, etc.) not just to move units and sell services, but to do it for the purpose of lifting veils and inviting people into new worlds, then every sale we make is an opportunity to bring another person more fully into the fruition of their soul’s journey and raise the consciousness on this planet.
